Take a trip to a museum anywhere in the world and you will find yourself face to face with oil paintings. The only medium available to the masters, oils continue to be popular today with artists because of their unique qualities. Oil paints are vibrant and long lasting; the ability to mix virtually any color from the three primaries – yellow, red and blue – plus white make them particularly attractive. And various techniques for applying the paint make illusions of depth and character easier to achieve.
Why then do so many artists avoid oil paints? Primarily for two factors: they are much slower to dry, and cleaning up brushes and surfaces is more difficult than watercolor or acrylic paints.
Are you curious about oil paints but don’t want to invest in the tubes and brushes needed? All the necessary tools will be provided to you at this workshop, giving you the opportunity to find why so many artists love working in oil.
In this workshop you’ll have the chance to experiment with oil paints. You’ll learn how to apply them, the do’s and don’ts of the medium, and you leave at the end of the workshop with a painting worthy of framing!
You will also receive additional information about oil painting, suggested supply lists if you decided to continue your exploration of this medium, and lots of reference sites for more information.

Supply List:
As with all Workshops, the supplies are provided by the instructor, including paint, brushes, palette, solvent and canvas. Please bring paper towels, rubber gloves if you use them, and an apron.
